The Human Knot is a classic team-building icebreaker that challenges participants to work together, communicate, and problem-solve. A group stands in a circle, reaches across and grabs the hands of others, then must untangle the resulting "knot" without releasing anyone's hand. Simple in concept — surprisingly challenging in execution.
Gather participants in a circle, standing shoulder-to-shoulder.
Each person reaches into the centre and grabs the hand of someone who is not directly next to them.
Once everyone is connected, the group must untangle themselves without releasing any hands.
Teams can communicate and move freely but cannot let go.
The goal is to end up in one large circle (or a series of linked circles).
For added challenge, attempt the knot in complete silence.
